I’ve got saved form religion! 12/06/2008
My story started in a home of two good, Christian parents, one older brother, one older sister and a little brother. This may sound a little boring, like “the same old story”, but it is not. I am a man that has been able to change my point of view on many different things. My search for the truth started in my childhood days, in a Norwegian traditional kind of “governmental” church.
When I was eleven years old, I saw for the first time in my whole life a pool in a Baptists church. That meant a great deal to me, and I guess it was where the process of started.
Ever since that moment I have wondered why there are a few theological differences between the churches. I think especially of practical teachings of baptism. Anyway, I was young and very loyal, and went to my parents church. But I felt always there was something missing. My longing of Christ wasn’t satisfied. I could not see the power of Christ and his work on the earth. I could not see clearly what God was doing.
Since I moved out of my parent’s house I have always been searching for the truth in many different places and churches. But what I always found (and still do) was this old traditional religious lawishness, or on the other hand a selfish Christian kind of lifestyle, with no loyalty to Gods word at all. A more like a “I do it my way – religion” and that is a sad lifestyle that too. This conflict tore me apart. I din not want to see the bad ethics and double moral.
I found a healthy "kingdom of God mentality" in 2003 in Christian Fellowship. This church is new created, fresh and did not have to explain other than “we trust Gods word and we live it out”. They did not have to defend old catechisms or other human teaching lines, theology or smart philosophy.
I am sick of this old earthly comparing culture. I wanted to see more of these heavenly principles and to approach a clean and true heavenly nature inside out. (This is still my motivation). I was interested in God and his plan for me, not what everybody else expected of me. I have done enough of that, and got tiered, very tiered.
At last I answered the invitation to join my friend’s church planting in Trondheim. This was a new experience for me, and I got baptized in water February 2004, (I’ve got The Holy Spirit several years before up in a Ski center I Oppdal). Now this new life blossomed. And I was connected to God. I had a tremendous and awesome Jesus experience. I felt God calling me again as an evangelist, and the importance of the Gospel touched me. I recognized all the times I have got messages from God, that he actually was going to make them happen. On the meetings people got heeled. At leas five friends of mine got healed the last year or so!
I also saw the picture of the body of Christ, that all of us are different and therefore very important. We are called to bless each other, and it revealed to me that this eternal life has already started It means that; yes, we are Gods children and saved, but we got to work! My gifts were discovered also. I saw that I could mean a great deal for any person, because of Jesus. I finally got the courage to sing songs of true worship, song from God, and songs to God. It made sense to me now; I got to see that there was action nearby The Holy Spirit! And I found myself as an important messenger of God.
Now I live happily married to a beautiful girl. And have the time of my life! I will always turn away from any other love that is not following The Lords footsteps. We live safe and sound under the authority of God. He is now my King Lord and Saviour. Not only a Saviour, but He the Boss of my life, He is my Hero! I can boldly add that His way of living, his standard for us, is the best way of living.
“The way” is a lifestyle, not a religion, and it means that we are: loved, forgiven, rich, able, safe and free under the authority and The Love of God.
